Kamarkattu / Kalkona / Kamarkat / Coconut Jaggery Balls are one of the most renowned South Indian sweets that offer a taste of royalty unmatched by any other. These candies are traditionally made from jaggery, which is cooked with water until it reaches a consistency roughly similar to honey in its final form. Upon reaching the desired consistency, shredded coconut can be added to the mixture as a way to provide texture to the jaggery batter.
